Pollinator-Friendly Public Space with Micro-Art Book house
This project aims to create a vibrant, community-focused promoting environmental stewardship and art in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It will replace an aging Little Free Library with a new bookhouse and add a second structure for micro-art displays featuring periodically rotating miniature works. The space will feature pollinator-friendly landscaping, seating, and educational materials to promote environmental awareness and neighborhood engagement as well as art that focuses on environment, atmospheric and botanical themes.
The surrounding area will be replanted with pollinator‑friendly native species, paired with simple seating and clear educational signage to help neighbors learn about local ecology. The goal is to create a welcoming, low‑maintenance community space that supports reading, creativity, and environmental awareness.
